What’s a Digital Playground?

What’s a Digital Playground?

Writing out loud is what we do with our mouths but words are invisible and lost in the wind. Your words are like clothing to your thoughts … What shall I wear today? But I better choose quickly because I’m on the spot! It’s almost as if when you write you are putting a suit or a dress on for an occasion.

We know that at times when we are at these occasions and we have our best dress on it feels not authentic or comfortable, so we start to sweat for reason of nerves or anxiety. You must come across in a manner that people will see that you are comfortable being there. Maybe it’s that you “attend” these functions in public often or maybe you are only used to being around familiar audiences. Well, step away my friends, get your “clothing” you feel most comfortable with on and just write for the fun of it.  See what happens with yourself and the ripples when you put your words out. Think how far those ripple will go. We are the sharp clap in existence that lasts for mere seconds in the scheme of Father Time so why not pick up all those gravel road rocks that you used to walk over on summer vacation, put them in your t-shirt and run to the nearest lake and chuck them all in. I bet you’d turn a few leafs over or even change the direction of someone’s boat.

The fun part of it all … playing and getting comfortable with yourself. Whether you are speaking, writing or an interpretive movement mute, you just need to have your personality and your own style. That’s what will give you the playful confidence to be a kid again and stir the pot. Because playing is what we all love to do. In the playground of words you feel happiest and you are exercising what is important. Doing whatever it is that you are interested in for that slotted amount of time. We can say for ourselves that we have not been out for recess in a long time, so that is why we are making a point to start this blog. So that as kids we can throw rocks, be shit-disturbers, get our clothes dirty and just have fun again with ourself and others. We invite you to come to recess with us and don’t worry about what you wear because showing up is all that matters.

We can tell you though that when we first started to work on creating a blog, it was like pulling teeth. We didn’t know what to wear, if other kids would judge us and when recess was even going to get started. Agreeing upon a meaningful name was our first clue of what direction to go in with the blog but picking a theme became the tooth we just didn’t have the courage to pull. A friend of ours gave some words of wisdom when she suggested we just pick a theme because what mattered was just playing with our words and not the playground we were in.

So as we moved forward, it was appropriate to say that our first blog aligned with a thirst for firsts and we needed to write to continue living our message. Well that was only one of our first challenges, being two personalities coming out into one spread was a fun dance of squirming, laughing and lightbulb moments. A friend of ours once said that there are not problems in the world just solutions, so to his appropriate comment we have found our steps to this dance and now can say that anything worth doing is always going to take effort at first. And you may have come out with some bumps and bruises but when the bell rings and you go back inside, you can look out the window and see the ripples you’ve created and reflect on the recess that has passed. So we suggest that you go throw some rocks and not worry about what you wear.  Until the next recess bell my friends, we look forward to playing with you.
